Jordan Drake - Director of Bands
Bachelor of Science in Music Education - University of North Texas
Jordan Drake, an alumni of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, is joining Grapevine Middle School from Lake Dallas Middle School where he served as Assistant Director of Bands. His duties include directing the Symphonic Band, assisting the Honors Band, and teaching the beginner brass and flute classes.
Mr. Drake holds Bachelors degrees in Music Education and Euphonium Performance from the University of North Texas. At UNT, he performed with the Wind Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Brass Band. He was also a member of the North Texas Green Brigade for three years, serving as the baritone Section Leader for two of those years. Alongside his education, Mr. Drake has taught lessons in Frisco ISD and was part of the visual staff for Marcus High School in Lewisville ISD.
Mr. Drake has competed internationally at the Leonard Falcone International Tuba-Euphonium Solo competition in the Young Artists division where he placed 4th. He has also competed at the International Tuba Euphonium Competition with the SuperNova Euphonium Quartet where they earned 2nd place. He has also given recitals with the SuperNova Euphonium Quartet at the Texas Music Educators Association convention and local businesses.
Mr. Drake’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and International Tuba Euphonium Association.
Mr. Drake is a recipient of the 2022 TMEA Collegiate Music Education Award.
When Mr. Drake is not teaching, he enjoys reading, running, playing board games, and spending time with his dog and family.

Andrew Platz - Interim Assistant Band Director
Bachelor of Science in Music Education - University of North Texas
Andrew Platz is incredibly excited to join the Grapevine Middle School Band in the position of interim assistant band director for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.
Originally from Keller, Texas, Mr. Platz obtained a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. During his time at UNT he was able to participate in various performing ensembles, including the Wind Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and the Green Brigade Marching Band in which he served in the capacity of section leader and drum major. Mr. Platz has also taught private clarinet lessons in Lewisville ISD and Birdville ISD, and has served as a visual technician for the Byron Nelson High School marching band in Northwest ISD.
Mr Platz’s professional affiliations include: the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, the International Clarinet Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.
Outside of teaching, Mr. Platz enjoys camping, mountain biking, reading, and spending time with his family.

Caleb Hinz - Director of Percussion
Bachelor of Science in Music Performance - University of North Texas
Caleb Hinz has been an active educator in the DFW area for many years, and is excited to begin his first year as the percussion director for the Grapevine High School band cluster.
Mr. Hinz was born and raised in Texas, where he attended Byron Nelson High School, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas. During his time at UNT, Mr. Hinz was able to study with many great percussionists, such as Sandi Rennick, Mark Ford, Stephen Barnes, and the late Christopher Deane. Mr. Hinz has performed with a number of highly regarded collegiate and professional groups such as the UNT Wind Orchestra, the Dallas Metropolitan Winds, The Dallas Brass Band, and the UNT Percussion Ensemble.
As an educator, Mr. Hinz has worked with multiple school districts in the DFW area, including Mesquite ISD, Irving ISD, Keller ISD, and Frisco ISD. Most recently, Mr. Hinz spent the last two years serving as the assistant percussion director for Rock Hill High School, Walnut Grove High School, and Rogers Middle School in Prosper ISD.
Mr. Hinz currently resides in Roanoke, Texas. His Wife, Kaylee, is also an educator, and shares his love of band. They have a 1-year old son who is quickly finding his love of music!
Katie Jobe - Assistant Director of Percussion
Bachelor of Music Education - University of Texas at Arlington
Katie Jobe is an active percussionist and educator in Fort Worth, TX. She received her Masters of Percussion Performance from Texas Christian University in 2023, and her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2021. At TCU, she served as a graduate assistant for the percussion studio and was a part of their performance at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 2022. As a performer, Katie was a member of the front ensemble for Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps in 2016 and 2017, and Fort Worth-based Vigilantes Indoor Percussion in 2017 and 2018. She was a member of the Maverick Marching
Band at UTA for four years, and performed in the bands, orchestras, and percussion ensembles of both UTA and TCU.
As an educator, Katie has worked with multiple schools in the DFW area, including Azle High School, Southwest High School in Fort Worth, and Coppell High School, where she student taught. Her most recent position prior to Grapevine was as the Assistant Percussion Director at Fossil Ridge High School in Keller ISD. There, she helped with teaching percussion classes, and served as the private lesson teacher for percussion students in the cluster. Prior to Fossil Ridge, she was on the front ensemble staff for Centennial High School in Burleson and served as a private lesson teacher for their feeder campus Kerr Middle School. On top of her experience with high school front ensembles, Katie also has experience teaching at the drum corps level. In 2022 she was a member of the front ensemble staff for Guardians, and in 2023 was part of the staff for Spirit of Atlanta.
Katie is excited to join the Grapevine Band staff and is looking forward to a great year!
